An Overview of the Auto Market by Federal Reserve Districts

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Although overall the Federal Reserve indicated that vehicle sales were suffering a downswing, there were a few bright spots in areas that saw mixed results or even an improvement in sales.

In its summary of all 12 districts, the Fed reported that while many regions saw higher demand for consumer electronics and several saw demand for luxury goods increase, vehicle sales were a different story.

"By contrast, sales of automobiles and light trucks were flat to down, with contacts from several districts expecting declines going forward," the government said.

Additionally the Fed's summary indicated that "the national economy continued to expand during the survey period of October through mid-November, but at a reduced pace compared with the previous survey period.
